Yep, that’s right. It’s a classic for a reason, but also perfect for that Monday night when you just can’t be arsed to do any serious cooking.
Just grab some prefabricated battered cod fillets, some frozen fries and toss it all in the oven at around 250 degrees C.
Place the fillets on an oven plate covered with baking paper, surround them with the fries, turn it all around once about midway through, and take it out before the fries turn black. If the fish fillets haven’t quite kept up with the fries, leave them in a while longer, or quickly pass them through a frying pan. Remember to salt the fries generously.
Serve with some greens lightly drenched in olive oil, salt and pepper. Add some mayonnaise for the fries and pour some red wine vinegar over the fish.
Pour a cold lager, toss up your feet and enjoy a fairly decent dinner with a minimum of effort.
