Don’t get me wrong, lager is great, no complaints about lager at all, but there’s a diversity in the world of beers, that’s probably unrivalled by any other alcoholic beverage.
Wheat beer is one of those other beers. Lager is made of water, yeast, barley and hops. Wheat beer adds, of course, wheat to that and is also less filtered than lager, hence the hazy colour. The result is fuller somehow, with a citrusy tone while still maintaining all the refreshing qualities of lager.
Some think it’s a summery beer, but for me it’s just a great all-rounder with which you can serve pretty much anything you think lager could fit.
